Oliver
'AND La Ruta sin Fin'
“La ruta sin fin” is a truly vibrant CD. It's
full of passion that Oliver expresses with overwhelming
emotion. The CD certainly inspires you in every way, it
makes you want to get up and dance all night, particularlyyyy
for me the track
“Baila Morena” reminded me of a typical cuban/latin
style dancing.
Oliver is certainly a singer
that will continue to grow and grow worldwide.
Angie Parkinson, una periodista for ¿Que Pasa?
Magazine discovers Oliver's love for singing and his inspiration
behind his music. She also discovers the reasons behind
the making of “La ruta sin fin” and how the
album cover was produced. Angie talks with Oliver about
his favourite track and his future plans.

¿Que
Pasa?:
When did you realise you had a love for
singing?
Oliver: My
singing was inspired by love, but sometimes it relates
to invented histories or things that have happened
to other people.
¿Que Pasa?: What
are your influences?
Oliver: Quality Artists and topics influence
me. Early The artists that I prefer are: Juan Luis
Guerra, Marc Antony, The Beatles.
¿Que
Pasa?: How would you describe your music?
Oliver: Always
I have tried to differ in everything what I do,
if to lose of some form the commercial thing, for
it I look for sounds and new histories that could
come to any corner of the planet. I define my music,
|
|
simply, done for all the tastes.
¿Que Pasa?: Do you have a defining
moment?
Oliver:
I am very calm, in peace with my soul and heart. I find
no reason for it not to be.
Musically loaded with so many inspiration.
¿Que
Pasa?:
How
do you manage pressure?
Oliver: I take life with great
calmness, I try to look always for alternate solutions
to the problems, different ways that help me and make
me know that everything can be fixed.
¿Que
Pasa?: When do find time to relax and how do
you relax?
Oliver: I work daily on my music,
concerts and promotions. I am very constant and this is
what I must do, as every day new things are made and the
music market becomes more competitive.
¿Que Pasa?: “La ruta sin
fin” what was your inspiration for this album?
Oliver: Love and the desire
for making dance and entertaining people, this is my major
inspiration.
¿Que
Pasa?: What was your reason to photograph the
railway line for your album cover?
Oliver: I wanted to do a
cover that nothing to do with the letters of the songs
but that simultaneously something was tied to them.
" The Route without end", all the songs were
written on a train or on a plane, in a few moments of
relaxation. This has been my life, a wonderful way but
also stormy, like has been my history a “Route without
end"
¿Que
Pasa?: What track is requested the most?
Oliver: This one is my fourth
production as a soloist. In Italy, thanks to my record
companies "Alosibla" and " Level 49 "
there have been many, that in my concerts are requested,
since " Te Quiero " (tango - bachata), "Sin
ti"(Salsa), "Tu primera vez" (Bachata)
and of my first CD in 2002 " A calzon quitao "
(Salsa) the classic one that is never absent. Of this
production already they have started playing and requesting
" Sin discusion" (salsaton), " Tus ojos"
(bachata), amongst others.
¿Que
Pasa?: You have travelled extensively, what
was your favourite country and why?
Oliver: It depends,
every country has left some great memory with me, undoubtedly
Italy has welcomed me as one of their own and I it so
much. But if I must choose seriously, it will always be
my country "Venezuela”.
¿Que
Pasa?: Have you ever been to the UK?
Oliver: I would love to
sing in the UK. It's very exciting to see that Latin music
is developing there.
¿Que
Pasa?: What would I expect to see at one of your
concerts?
Oliver: Undoubtedlylyly,
Latin pure and varied music, something that characterizes
me is that I sing all the styles, (Salsa, Merengue, Bachata,
cha-cha-cha and up to a bit of Regatone). In fact my CD'S
are always varied, a lot of energy, dance, mood, I do
on occasions voice of woman and man in the same song...
Serious and fun !!!
¿Que
Pasa?: I saw your backstage video on the railway
line, were you nervous or excited?
Oliver: It was a bit exciting that
we did hide from the police and railway workers were only
10 minutes if we needed to escape so they did not see
us.
¿Que
Pasa?: You've performed at the Latin American
festivals in 2004, are you planning anymore?
Oliver: It was the first
time, since 2004 until this year that I've appeared there.
However, exclusively for one of the present clubs we are
organizing a show when the next Latin festival is due,
in addition to a European tour.
¿Que
Pasa?: Are you planning any further albums?
Oliver: Yeah, sure, I write
every day and I'm seeking many ideas for future projects
with my arranger Alessandro Bertozzi, "Alosibla"
and "Level 49". But for now we are only interested
in promoting “La ruta sin fin”
¿Que
Pasa?: Where do you see yourself in 10 years
time?
Oliver:
I hope and pray with my family, my wife and my children
in Venezuela.
