¿Que Pasa?: ¿Que Pasa?: Who is Yamila?

Yamila: Yamila is a Cuban born singer, actress, TV host and a dancer. Daugther of the famous Cuban singers Rosell y Cary, and sister of the composer and producer Yalil Guerra. Graduated from the Havana Ballet School and Variedades Artisticas. She has toured different countries such as: Spain, France, Portugal, Martinique, Guadalupe, Mexico, Cuba and the U.S.

¿Que Pasa?: When did you realise you had a love for singing?

Yamila: My first contact with singing was with my parents, they used to take me to their concerts and TV appearances, they introduced me in this beautiful world of arts. I started singing at the age of 8 years old approximately and since that day, I could not stop doing this, this is my life and passion.

¿QUE PASA? ¿Que Pasa?: What are your influences?

Yamila: My influences are: First of all my parents, Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, Rafaela Carra, and many great artists of the history?

¿QUE PASA? Who would you most like to meet and why?

Yamila: Elton John is one of the artist I would like to meet and share stage with, I've been an admirer of his career, a complete artist and composer. Also I would like to meet Gloria and Emilio Estefan, they represent the most famous Cuban artist in the world and I have a lot of respect and admiration for their achievements.
.
Que Pasa : How would you describe your music?

Yamila: My music is like me, I try to reflect my personality, my music is fire, to make people happy, life is short, so I try to bring happiness to the people with my songs. My brother Yalil captures very well who I am, he knows me very well and always pushes me to do a better work everyday and to stay in shape, both, physically and mentally.

¿QUE PASA? What track is requested the most?

Yamila: The track that is most requested is the number one, this song was composed by my brother, dedicated to his wife and it likes a lot, this song have been a "most play" in the salsa clubs in Los Angeles for quite a while now. Then arrangements and the band is amazing. I love how the voice sounds in this track, I think I could transmit the lyrics with feelings and love

.¿QUE PASA? You have travelled for a few countries, which one is your favourite and why?

Yamila: I do not have any favorite country. I like to enjoy every country I visited, each culture brings something new to my knowledge, I love to learn from each one. What I can tell you is that I would love to perform in the U.K., is a country that I like a lot.

¿QUE PASA?
Why you left Cuba

Yamila: The principal cause of why I left Cuba was economically, I was very young and without any political knowledge, I learned more about that after I left my country, in Cuba when you are at school you are young and you don't really understand what is happening in your country, you only have access to the goverment media and thats your principal source of information, so, forming a balance and correct opinion of the situation of your country is difficult.

I think that our country needs a fast and secure changes, younger and smart generations need to gain control of the country and provide the goods and good life of our people needs. It's been 50 years of scarcity, fighting a war that does not exist anymore

¿QUE PASA?Que Pasa?: Are you planning any further albums?

Yamila: Yes, I am planing a new album, full of surprises, it will be produced by my talented brother, Yalil Guerra, so, keep visiting my web page and stay informed about my upcoming projects. Visit http://www.yamilaguerra.com
