Anita Lombardi is a shining star in the
current Salsa Dance World and definitely the most
versatile in style. Her professional dancer education
took in Jazz, Afro, Hip Hop and Modern Dance.
All these different styles of dance affected her
Salsa technical approach and made her Salsa-Mambo
Style rich in refined elements and versatile.
Furthermore Anita’s training in Latin Jazz
and Afro Jazz Dance with the famous French coreographer
Jean Claude Hertin gave her a complete understanding
and interpretation of several kinds of music and
dances. In such an accomplished dancing education
ballet could not be omitted. As a matter of fact
she studied ballet with etoiles like Pomper (Parisian
school) and Walter Venditti (La Scala theatre,
Milan).
When her training
was over Anita Lombardi began her professional
dancing career in theatre with Live Sun and Moments
Dance Companies. Then she was chosen by Jean Claude
Hertin as the main character of the Zanselia musical
where she learnt a new style of acting in dance.
After that she took part in the Rhytme Hip Hop
Group Italian Tour choreographed by the Creole
Michel Danquin. She also danced in many Tv shows
until the percussionist Andy Omakaro chose her
as testimonial of his African Beat record for
the Amsterdam D.M.C and the Bacardi Tour in glamorous
venues and important conventions throughout Italy.
At the same time she joined the Sabrosura Tropical
Group which promoted the Mambo King movie on behalf
of Warner Bros Italia. The same group (Sabrosura
Tropical) has been responsible for the entertainment
organisation of the most glamorous and crowded
Latin American Nights of Milan for many years.
A really busy career she has, Anita Lombardi,
today one of the most qualified Italian Salsa
teachers with more than a decade of experience
in teaching during international stages and in
the best dance schools of Milan.
Nevertheless
she is also a brilliant choreographer. Anita’s
choreographic career began almost 10 years ago
with the Rico Vacilon Group (Latin Jazz) which
was followed by Mamitas Rica (Woman Style), Bla
Bla Latin Group and Pueblo Latino (Salsa Ny Style
on 1). Then in March 2004 she reunited her best
dancers in a new group named SalsaKonFusion which
performs in the most fashionable ballrooms and
in the best national and international salsa congresses.
SalsaKonFusion Dance Company expresses a brand
new Salsa-Mambo Style which melts Jazz, Afro and
other kind of dances enhancing all the positive
energy the dancers have in their souls. So with
this original dance group Anita Lombardi has succeeded
in having the deep expressiveness of Dance and
the simple naturalness of Afro mixed in the typical
Ny Style dynamics of Break on two. Shortly afterwards
she wanted to direct a musical as a choreographer
and so she did with Sciuscià where she
also co-starred as a dancer. This musical project
was realized in cooperation with the BLS Dance
Company (BLS Accademia delle Danze). Currently
Anita is the teacher and choreographer of Woman
Evolution Group (Woman Style on 2) and of Company
for African Children Group (Salsa Ny Style Break
on 2). The latter is a dance company joined by
professional and amateur dancers whose main target
is to perform in favour of the African Children
neglected rights (all the performances profits
are assigned to a non-profit corporation).
In 2008 she
and her SalsaKonFusion partner Manuel Kotaidis
realized two really important Italian Dance Projects:
1. Milano Pa’Los Salseros, which brought
the Salsa Congress back to Milan, has Anita Lombardi
as founder, producer, organiser and artistic director
2. DeeJay Salsa Night, the first international
official meeting of Latin DeeJays in one night
in Milan.
Currently
Anita Lombardi teaches in her Lo Studio Dance
School, the first Latin American and Ethnic Dance
School in Milan.
